Fresh Noodles
Serendipity at its best. At Hasram's cooking stall, we met a chinese gentleman we called "Uncle". He was a friendly local who shared some of his experiences of travel and settling in Malaysia. He asked Sue where she was from and when he found out she was part chinese, he asked at what part of China were her grandparents from.
"I think you are Haka." he said. Suzanne did not think to ask her parents what part of China her grandparents were from. (more homework for Sue)

The next day we ran into him while we were looking for Hashram.
He asked if we wanted to join him and his son-in-law for a noodle lunch. Since we didn't have anything planned for the afternoon, we followed Uncle to this fabulous noodle house.
In this photo is Xain, the master noodle maker. He has been making noodles all of his life, recipes and methods passed generation after generation. He mentioned that back in the day they used to use bamboo to flatten out the noodles. Amazing to see . . « hide more
