A bit further from where we bought the Roti Canai we saw some more local sweets and had to try it. These cakes were called Baulu, the small cupcakes w/o coconut milk and the Akok with coconut milk. Both were equally delicious and we saved some to have with our tea tarik for breakfast. Since it was afternoon, we thought we'd have a full on mid-afternoon snack so we sat down and also tried Keropok (fishball), Pisang (fried banana) and Ubi (sweet potato). It was a full meal.

We met Hashram (the guy in the blue shirt)who sold us the sweets. He seemed as curious about us as we were of him. He asked us where we were from, where we have travelled and how much money we had spent on our travels. We were also curious about him so we asked about his family. He told us that his wife is from Java, Indonesia and he has a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old. « hide more |
