We asked the hotel owner if we could go fishing one morning. He took us out at 5am and went out to the open sea. It was still dark, the stars were out, the new moon was a sliver. As sky began to brighten, we could see Mt Agung, on Bali and in a far distant we also saw Mt Rinjani on Lombok. We dropped a fishing line with 50 hooks but not a single bite.
When the wind kicked up, Nyoman put out the sail so we cruised further out where the rest of the fishing boats were. After a half hour it didn't look like anyone was catching anything so we headed back to land.

Nyoman says some days are just not good fishing days, but we enjoyed our early boat ride to watch the sunrise.
