Welcome to Brisbane, Australia!

100 YEARS of EKKA! On our second day in Brisbane, we just wanted to take a walk and enjoy the outdoors so we ended up at the Ekka festival.

We never got a straight answer from an Australian about what EKKA means or what it stood for, or why it is celebrated. We checked out the local festivities and it looked like a celebration of pretty much everything!
There were contests for the best cattle, best horse, best chickens, pineapples, and best garden display. Yes, there were LOTS of animals in this festival, it was like a zoo fair. Oh, and they had the usual fair type of stuff like ferris wheel, crazy rides, cotton candy, music, international food..I can go on!
