After the river, we hiked for another hour uphill to elephant haven.
At the haven, the elephants are free to roam where they please, eat as much as they want and are not chained during night time. (At the sanctuary, they have to be chained at night so they dont roam into the neighboring farms and eat their crop. In the past, many elephants have been shot dead while foraging in farmland)

It was a muddy but beautiful hike in the jungle.
