A humbling experience . . .

What a humbling experience it was to meet this man. He was recruited in the Cambodian army and spent most of his time in the jungle training. One day he was picking up something from the ground and little did he know he had come across a landmine.

For months after his arms were amputated, he thought about ending his own life as he could not contemplate a life without his arms. He first became a beggar, not knowing where to go and who to go to for help.

Eventually, he did find help within an organization that helped landmine victims acquire skills and over time he became a salesman. We came across his booth of books and tshirts after we had dinner one night while strolling in Siem Reap.
